❀ Grab-A-Cane ❀
Grab-A-Cane was invented by Donald Beyette, born with Holt Oram syndrome in 1949.
His mother and father raised him as a normal child, not a handicapped child, because of that he became
a working member of society. In 2001, while working at his automotive repair shop, he was crushed bet-
ween the front end of a pickup truck and a concrete wall. One of his employees was in the parking lot,
and his foot slipped off the brake and full throttled it into the shop where he was working. On the way to
the hospital, he was thinking, he was born with the right side of deformed and now they crushed up the left side. Why couldn't they have just crushed up the right side of little more. The doctor replaced his left
kneecap tendon ( ACL ), reattached the upper left leg muscle, repair the hernias and waited for the internal bleeding to stop. On May 31st 2007 at St. Mary's hospital in Saginaw, MI Dr. Schell used cutting-edge technology to fuse his back from the tailbone to the L5 vertebrae. He repaired his back without using any screws, rods, or pins. During the 9 year rehabilitation process, necessity was in fact the mother of invention! he created the crane grabber to reduce the number of tools he had to use and carry around with him. He designed the product so that it would actually work for him when he needed it, unlike some other grabbers on the market~
